How do I set a Target Keyword in Bertie?

  1. Open an article in Bertie

  2. Click on the Magic Hat icon in the upper-right-hand side to open the Bertie Assistant

The magic hat icon will open the Bertie Assistant

3. The first section in the Assistant should be called "Target Keyword". Click on the "Edit" button within that section

4. Enter the target keyword into the open field and click "Apply". You will see supporting information load within the section.

This is how the Target Keyword section will look once you've submitted a keyword.

5. Now that you have the search volume for your keyword and related keywords, select the Keyword that matches the intent of your article and has the highest search volume.

6. Once you have chosen a target keyword, use it strategically throughout your story, including the headline, search title, search description, subheads, and body copy. However, don't overuse the keyword as this can lead to keyword stuffing and can actually harm your SEO. Using the target keyword within your content should be done naturally and not forced.

By following these steps, you can choose a target keyword that is relevant, popular, and has a good chance of helping your story rank well in search engine results pages.
