Crypto-philanthropy is a new form of charitable giving involving the donation of cryptocurrency and web3 tokens.

Recent studies suggest that crypto-philanthropy presents nonprofits with a unique fundraising opportunity to reach a new demography of donors. Crypto donations have experienced explosive growth since 2020.

For instance, Fidelity Charitable reportedly received $331 million in crypto donations in 2021, a staggering increase from only $28 million a year prior.

Meanwhile, “The Giving Block,” a crypto donation solution, raised $100 million of donations in 2021 and expects to see that number grow significantly, according to its co-founder, Alex Wilson.
