Try these first (you can do them yourself):
Restart your device — this fixes most temporary issues. Just hold the power button, tap "Restart," and wait for it to come back on.
Turn down your screen brightness — your screen uses up to 60% of your battery! Lowering the brightness will make a big difference.
Do NOT turn on energy saving / battery saver mode — we know it sounds like it should help, but it actually makes your GPS and internet connection worse, which causes the app to work harder and drain even more battery.
Keep your device out of direct sunlight — don't leave it on the dashboard or near the windshield. Heat from the sun can damage the battery and cause the device to overheat. Also avoid placing it directly in front of air vents in the van.
Check your charger and cable — make sure the device is actually charging while you drive. A loose cable or broken charger is a common reason for battery running out.
Still having problems?
If you've tried everything above and your device is still overheating or the battery keeps dying:
Contact support — describe what's happening and mention what you've already tried.
If the battery is physically swollen or the device won't charge at all — stop using the device immediately and tell your depot. The device needs to be sent in for repair. Your depot can arrange a replacement.
Good to know
The Bettermile app uses about 10–15% battery per hour during navigation — that's normal and similar to Google Maps or any other navigation app. If your battery is dropping much faster than that, something else is going on and support can help you figure it out.
