We understand that setting up a goal can be challenging, but don't worry— we're here to help!
To set a goal, start by locating the teal plus button in the upper right corner and click it. A modal will appear with a list of available goals. From there, you can either select a goal from the list or choose 'Create a Custom Goal' to personalize your own. Follow the steps below to complete the setup.
Setting a Fitness, Spiritual, Reading, and Learning
You can not edit the goal name or action for existing BetterYou goals. Tap on “Logging Method” to choose how you want to log your progress.
You can choose to log time towards your goal or use Location Auto-logging. If you choose Time-based, choose your desired time. If you choose Location Auto-logging you will need to add a location to this goal.
Tap on “+ Add Location” and add a specific address or business.
Once you’ve added a location, you will have the ability to choose how many times per week you want to visit this location. Tap on “Save Changes” to continue.
Tap on the “Create Goal” button to finish setting up your goal.
Your new goal will populate on your goals dashboard!
Setting a Custom Goal
Select the edit pen to customize your custom goal icon.
Choose a background color and then an icon to represent your custom goal. Once you’re done selecting your icon color and image, tap on “Save Changes”.
Make sure you set a goal name and action. After that, choose a logging method.
Select from three different logging methods: Yes/No logging, Time-based logging, or Location Auto-logging. Whichever you choose, make sure you select “Save Changes” when you’re done.
Once you have completed all the prompts to create a custom goal, tap on the button “Create Goal” to complete the goal creation process.
Your new goal will populate on your goals dashboard!
Setting a Social Goal
You can not edit the goal name or action for existing BetterYou goals. Tap on “Logging Method” to choose how you want to log your social progress.
You can choose to log time towards your social goal or use Location Auto-logging. If you choose Time-based, select the time you want to commit to this goal and tap on “Add Contact(s)”
You can select the people you want to stay in touch with and continue to finish setting up your goal.
Once you’ve added all the people you want to stay in touch with, tap on “Save Changes” to continue.
Tap on the “Create Goal” button to finish setting up your social goal.
Your new goal will populate on your goals dashboard!
Setting a Steps Goal
You can not edit the goal name or action for existing BetterYou goals. Tap on “Interval” to choose your desired daily steps goal.
You can adjust your steps per day by tapping on the plus or minus button, once you’ve arrived at your desired steps goal, tap “Save Changes” to continue.
Choose a logging method. You can choose to link your goal to Apple Health, or other wearable devices. To link your goal to Apple Health, you will need to give BetterYou permission.
Once you’ve selected your preferred steps count and logging method, tap on the button “Create Goal” to complete setting up your steps goal.
Your new goal will populate on your goals dashboard!
Setting a Meditation Goal
You can not edit the goal name or action for existing BetterYou goals. Tap on “Logging Method” to choose how you want to log your meditation progress.
You can choose to log time towards your meditation goal or use Location Auto-logging. If you choose Time-based, choose your desired time and tap on “Enable Apple Health” or “Enable Google Fit”.
You will want to “Turn On All” for BetterYou to run in the background.
Once you’ve allowed access, you will see that Apple Health or Google Fit has been requested. Tap on “Save Changes” to continue.
Tap on the “Create Goal” button to finish setting up your meditation goal.
Your new goal will populate on your goals dashboard!
Setting a Sleep Goal
Follow the prompts to properly set up your sleep goal. You will need to select your wind down time, bedtime, and wake up time. We recommend getting 7.5-8.5 hours of sleep per night!
Once you finish setting up your bedtime and wake up time, you will be able to choose if you want to monitor your sleep on the weekends. You will also be able to toggle on and off your bedtime reminders and nudges.
Next, you will need to Enable your Apple Health or Google Fit and enable Location Services to allow BetterYou to work in the background.
Once you’re done, you will see this screen telling your your goal commitment. Press and hold to continue!
Your new goal will populate on your goals dashboard!
