To connect a Fitbit wearable device directly to the BetterYou app, follow these steps:
Make sure you have an account set up with Fitbit
Sign in at accounts.fitbit.com and make sure your email and password are up to date.
If you don’t already have the Fitbit app installed on your phone, download and install the app from the App Store or Google Play.
Open your Fitbit app and make sure your wearable device is synced to the app:
Finally, connect your Fitbit account with the BetterYou app:
Click the PROFILE tab at the bottom, then click the Wearables menu item.
On the Wearables screen, on the Fitbit option, if you see a green check mark or Connected in green text, your Fitbit account is already connected!
If not, click on Fitbit, then click the Connect Fitbit button.
Sign into your Fitbit account, and grant BetterYou access.
If you see two options to return to BetterYou, both with the BetterYou logo, click on the second option. (We apologize for this bug and are working on it!)
It can take up to 15 minutes for the data from your Fitbit account to update your steps goal. You can accelerate this update by going to the Goals dashboard and pulling down on the screen to refresh.
Alternate option for Android members
We hate when things don’t run smoothly, but if you are unable to connect your Fitbit after completing all the steps listed above, you may be encountering a Fitbit authorization issue.
In these instances, we suggest connecting Fitbit to Google Fit via the Health Connect app instead of directly to BetterYou.
How to use Health Connect to sync Fitbit to Google Fit
Download the Health Connect app from the Google Play store. It may be automatically installed on your device.
Open Health Connect and click on App permissions, and make sure Google Fit is on the Allowed access list. If not, click on Fit and then click Allow All to put it on the allowed list.
Open the Fitbit app on your phone.
Click on the gear icon at the top right to open your Settings.
Click on the Health Connect option at the bottom of the Settings menu.
Toggle on Sync with Health Connect.
Select TURN ON on the next screen.
Toggle on the data fields Fitbit is allowed to write to Health Connect. Tap Allow all to sync all data fields to Health Connect.
Tap Allow, then tap Done.
From there, you will need to establish the connection between Google Fit and Health Connect:
Open Google Fit, then tap Profile from the bottom navigation bar (it's the person icon.)
Click the Settings gear wheel on the top right of the Profile screen.
Toggle Sync Fit with Health Connect on (it’s in the middle of the Settings screen on most devices, but may differ for others.)
