Passing product, plan and cycle IDs in the subscribe button

Save customers time and take more control with data passthrough

Updated over a week ago

The first stage of the checkout flow is for customer to choose which product, plan and cycle they want to subscribe to. However, you have the ability to create a more tailored purchasing experience by passing across information in the embed code.

This is useful if you have a specific page of your website for each of your products, and you want to provide a subscribe button for the different products that allows them to subscribe to that product only. You may even have descriptions of each of the available plans and cycles for each product, with individual Subscribe buttons for each.

Using the embed codes you are able to pass over the product, plan or cycle ID in the embed code. The more information you send us, the more we will skip in the checkout:

  1. To pre-select the product, pass over Product ID

  2. To pre-select the plan, pass over Plan ID

  3. To pre-select the cycle, pass over Cycle ID

Passing over the cycle ID will skip the selection screens completely, taking the customer straight to the screen to enter their contact details in the checkout.

Using the embed codes

To pass over this information you'll use exactly the same code snippet copied and pasted into the header, but use a customized snippet where you want the button to appear. We can create this code snippet for you on the Embed codes page in your Billsby account; all you need to do is use the dropdown and we'll generate the code.

Once that's done you just need to copy the generated code and place this on your website, where you want the button to appear.

If you're passing over a plan that is unit based, you'll also need to enter the amount of units you want to include in the plan.
