Aferter loading a 3D model in the 3D viewer, the tool dropdown button can be found on the top right.

Note: The tool button usually looks like this but might change appearance depending on which tool you have selected.

When you open the tool dropdown it can can look something like this:

This article contains information about the following topics:

Object picker - Default

With this tool you will be able to click on objects to select them.

The keybind to select this tool is "space"

After selecting an object, hold control to select multiple objects.

Objects can also be selected with rectangular selection in the 2D viewer.

Clipping planes

To quickly create a clipping plane, point at an object and create a clipping plane from the right click action menu.
The create plane tools in the tool menu make it easier to create clipping planes as they will show you a preview of the clipping plane you are about to create when you point at differently angled surfaces.

Create clipping plane

Click here to create a clipping plane that is parallel with the object you hover over.

Click here to learn more about how to make clipping planes.

Create measure plane

Click here to create a measure plane that is parallel with the object you hover over.

Measuring tools

Laser measuere is a feature that finds surfaces and lines and gives you automatically the measure between these two points, while Tape measure is a feature where you choose point A and draw a line to line B and gives you the measure between these two points.

Laser measure

The laser measure lets you measure the distances between objects.

The keybind for this is "m"

It is recommended to have the Information panel and Measure menu open while doing measurements. After having selected the laser measurer in the tool dropdown, you can begin taking measurements.

Point at a plane or edge of a surface and left click to take measurements from there.

Units

By default you will see the measurement unit configured by your administrator in project settings.

Choose different measuring units, Millimeters, Centimeters and Meters.

Display

Choose between three different ways you want the measures to be shown in the 3D view. These are Length, Segment and Distance.

Hiding measurements

After measuring, measuring lines will be shown along the horizontal and vertical intersections with the surface as well as the normal of the surface.

To hide a measuring line, click the hide button.

Add or remove segments

When you confirm your measurement by clicking the horizontal and vertical intersecting lines extend to the first intersecting object or end of surface if there if no objects intersect.

Tip: The arrows can be very useful, especially if you want to find measures between windows, doors and railings for example.

Adding segments

Click on the arrows next to the measurement to expand your measuring line in either direction until the next intersecting object.

Removing segments
If your measuring line has multiple segments, you can remove them by clicking on the minus.

Measurement information

Measurement information for each measurement is displayed.

Segment information

On the left you will find the length of each segment with the corresponding segment number.

Note: You can set the display to segment towards the top to find each segment numbered in the 3D viewer

Distance information

On the right you will find the distance from the start of the measuring line to the end of each segment.

The total length is the distance from the start of the measuring line until the end of the last segment like in the image below.

Tape measure

Measure distances between points.

The keybind for this is "shift+m"

The measuring tape feature in Catenda Hub lets you measure freely between two selected points in the 3D viewer.

The measuring tape also finds lines and surfaces.

This makes it easy to know what you are measuring from and to.

By making a diagonal measurement the vertical and horizontal measurements also get added as shown in the picture.

As with the laser measuring tool, you can click on the eye icons to hide the different measuring lines.

Point measure

Measure coordinates

The keybind for this is "ctrl+m"

Clear measures
