Chat and what you can ask

Written by Arman Vardanyan

Chat is the main way to work with Binee. Start a new chat from the sidebar (New chat), and find older conversations under Recents, on the All Chats page, or with the sidebar's Search entry (Cmd+K or Ctrl+K also opens search). Conversations started from Slack appear in their own From Slack group in the sidebar.

Chat also travels with you: the Binee Assistant button in the bar at the top of the app opens the assistant on any page. On desktop it opens as its own full-height section on the right and the rest of the app slides left to make room; on smaller screens it opens over the page. Closing it from its close button (or the same header button) gives the space back. It is the same Binee chat, not a second, separate chat: answers, confirmation cards, and credit costs work exactly as they do here, and assistant conversations appear on the All Chats page like any other. The assistant also knows which page you are on and answers with that place in mind. Example: on the Automations page, ask "warn me when a task delay breaks a date we promised a client by email" in the assistant, confirm the card, and the new automation appears in the list beside it; on a dashboard, say "I want a daily chart of how many meetings and emails I get" and Binee offers to add that as cards to the dashboard you are looking at.

What you can ask

  • Anything about the work in your connected tools: summaries, lookups, status checks, cross-tool questions about a person or client, and follow-ups on earlier answers.

  • Anything Binee flagged: "what did Binee flag this week", "do I have any urgent insights".

  • Actions: create or update items, draft replies, and similar changes in your connected tools. Binee stages every change and asks you to confirm it before anything is written.

  • Standing behavior: ask to be told about something going forward, in plain words, and Binee creates the watching automation for you (with a confirmation card first). Example: "warn me when a task delay breaks a date we promised a client by email" becomes an automation that watches your email and task activity together and flags each break as it happens.

  • Building for a teammate: workspace owners and admins can ask Binee to build an automation for another member ("build Scott an automation that warns him when a client email sounds unhappy"). The usual confirmation card comes first, and the automation then waits for that teammate's approval on their Automations page before it runs on their own connections. An automation request can also carry an action step: "warn me when a client email asks for new work, and then create a ClickUp task for it" stages the watching and the doing on one confirmation card.

  • Questions about Binee itself: how a feature works, where a setting lives, how billing works. These support answers are free.

  • General questions that need no workspace data, including web lookups.

Binee only reads a tool through your own connection. If you have not connected a tool yourself, Binee will say so and point you to Settings, then Integrations.

Watching a reply arrive

Replies stream in live instead of arriving all at once. While Binee works, the thinking line reports what is actually happening, in order: Binee is thinking (your message was received), deciding how to answer (Binee is choosing what to check), checking your connected tools (named as they are checked), and writing the answer, at which point the reply types out as it is generated. These statuses reflect real progress, so a heavy question that fans out across several tools simply spends longer in the checking step. If a reply fails mid-stream, the error is shown honestly in the conversation and sending the message again is safe.

Attachments

You can attach up to 3 files per message (images, PDFs, Word and PowerPoint documents, text files). Images can be up to about 5 MB each. Binee reads the full content on the message you attach it to; in later messages it keeps a compact summary of each file so long conversations stay fast.

Confirmations and Always allow

When Binee wants to change something in a connected tool, it shows a confirmation card describing exactly what it will do, with a risk level (low, medium, or high). Nothing is written until you press Confirm. For low and medium risk operations you can choose Always allow, which lets that specific operation type run without asking next time. High risk operations always ask. Manage your standing permissions in Settings, then Integrations, using the Permissions button on a connected integration.

Cost

Each chat message costs between 0.55 and 2 credits depending on how much work it takes: quick answers cost the least, and messages that fan out across several tools, include attachments, or perform actions cost more. Questions about how Binee itself works are answered by the built-in supporter and cost nothing.
