ClickUp Setup

ClickUp Setup is a guided workspace builder: it analyzes your business, proposes a ClickUp structure you can review and edit, then builds the spaces, folders, lists, and docs in your ClickUp for you. Find it in the sidebar under Tools, as ClickUp Setup.

It is included with every Binee account, the free plan included, with nothing separate to buy. The setup work itself costs credits (each step's price is listed under The steps and Build pricing below; generating the plan also shows its exact charge on screen before you click), so a larger setup may call for more than the free monthly allowance; pay-as-you-go top-ups from Settings, then Billing & Usage cover that. Accounts that bought the former one-time ClickUp Setup purchase keep its credits: they are ordinary pay-as-you-go credits that stay in the balance until used.

The steps

  1. Connect: link your ClickUp account (and pick a team if you have several).

  2. Analyze: Binee measures your existing ClickUp workspace against a fixed set of 38 diagnostic checks and reports a health score out of 100 with a breakdown across structure, hygiene, activity, and strategy, plus a ranked list of opportunities (each paired with its recommended fix and the measured evidence, for example "0 of 14 open tasks have a due date - give every open task a realistic due date"), what is working well, and the score lift you can expect from applying the fixes. The checks are deterministic: the same workspace state always produces the same score, so a before and after comparison is a real measurement, not a judgment call. This costs 2 credits. If the workspace cannot be read completely, you are told so plainly, nothing is charged, and you can run it again or continue without it.

  3. Describe: fill in a short business profile, then refine the picture in a setup chat. Each setup chat message costs 2 credits. You can attach images.

  4. Review: walk the proposed plan section by section and approve each part before anything is built. The reasoning behind the structure sits up top, then sections for Structure (spaces, folders, lists, statuses), Tags, Docs, and Goals open one at a time in a working panel where you can rename, add, or remove items. Doc and goal descriptions are editable too, and they matter: a doc's description steers the starter content written into it, for example describing your onboarding steps so the onboarding guide doc arrives pre-written the way you run it. Each section has an Approve button that turns green when you have reviewed it, and the Approve and Build button unlocks only when every section is approved, so nothing gets built that you have not consciously looked at. Changing a section's content after approving it, whether by editing it directly or by revising in the chat, clears that section's approval so you give the new content a fresh look, for example renaming a list in Structure asks you to re-approve Structure but leaves your Tags approval standing. Informative sections (ClickApps and Views) explain what comes automatically and need no approval. Structures are designed within your ClickUp plan's limits: on ClickUp's Free plan, which allows 5 spaces in total, a business with many areas gets folders inside a few spaces instead of a space per area, and the chat says so if you ask for more spaces than your plan allows. If a draft would still exceed the cap, the Review screen shows a red warning before anything is built, with a Revise with Binee button that takes you back to the chat with the limit already explained, so the structure gets reworked to fit in one step (the button sends an ordinary chat message, so it costs the usual 2 credits). Generating the plan is priced by draft size (5 credits up to 5 spaces and 20 lists, 10 credits up to 10 spaces and 40 lists, 20 credits above that), with the exact charge shown next to Generate Structure before you click. If existing items need removing to make room, the removal dialog pre-selects Binee's suggestions with Select all, Select suggested, and Deselect all shortcuts.

  5. Build: Binee creates the structure in your ClickUp, then fills in starter content (tasks, views, and doc content) as finishing jobs. Starter tasks come ready to work: priorities, tags, checklists, staggered due-date windows over the first weeks, and they are assigned to you as the triage owner, so the board is trackable from day one instead of a pile of unassigned, dateless items. Lists that already contain tasks and views that already exist are never touched again, so a retry or rebuild can never create duplicates. Progress is grouped by category (Structure, Tags, Docs, Goals, Starter content); anything that fails collects in one Failed group with the reason in plain words, and a single Retry all failed button handles recovery. Retrying only re-runs the items that failed, never the parts that already succeeded. Failures caused by your ClickUp plan or storage limits (for example a feature your ClickUp plan does not include, a used-up quota, or a workspace over its storage limit) are marked with an amber "ClickUp limit" badge and explained as a limit on your ClickUp package rather than a build problem, with what to change in ClickUp before retrying. Once the build settles, Continue is the highlighted way forward even when some items failed, so a list of plan-limited items never blocks finishing the setup. The estimated completion time is shown from the moment you click Build, you can leave the page while it works, and the wizard moves to Finish only when everything, including the starter content, is created or has failed with a clear reason.

  6. Finish: a wrap-up showing how long the build took and how many items are live, a Check my new score button that re-runs the analysis (2 credits) and shows the fresh health score right there, tap-to-ask starter questions that open the chat with that question already sent, any manual steps ClickUp requires (with a time estimate), and a link to open your new workspace. The score you checked stays on the Finish screen even if you visit other steps or come back later, and a Re-check button lets you measure again after making changes, for example after assigning tasks or completing the manual steps by hand.

Build pricing and refunds

The build fee is charged once, at build start: 0.5 credits per list plus 0.5 credits per doc in the final plan, with a minimum of 5 credits. As an example, a plan with 11 lists and 5 docs charges 8 credits when you click Approve and Build.

If the build fails outright, before it manages to create your structure, the build fee is refunded automatically and in full. If the structure was created but some items failed, the build completes and retrying the failed items is free, whether they were structure (a space or list that hit a limit) or finishing jobs (starter tasks, views, doc content) - the original build fee already covered them. The one case that charges again: a build that failed outright and was refunded is over, so running the build again is a new build with a new build fee.
