Classroom Guide
The Classroom Guide is the ideal orientation resource for getting started with BIOZONE and successfully implementing BIOZONE resources into planning, delivery, and assessment. The Classroom Guide provides information on the features and pedagogy of the worktext enabling teachers to make the best use of BIOZONE’s resources. It includes information on the resources available to teachers, strategies for teaching in a differentiated classroom, information about the assessment tools, and provides suggestions for utilizing the resources effectively. Where applicable,
course alignments are provided.
Alignment Documents
Where applicable, alignment documents are provided for select titles allowing for quick reference to curriculum or content coverage within the BIOZONE title.
Pacing Guide
A pacing guide provides suggested delivery times, highlights special notes for consideration, important vocabulary terms, and identifies opportunities for practical activities. Suggestions for formative and summative assessment opportunities are also provided. Copy and paste this information into lesson planning documents to streamline preparation.
Teacher Notes
Teacher Notes can be used as mini lesson plans, providing context for the material and providing additional detail for the learning points. Suggestions for differentiated instruction are provided, including ways to support striving learners and to extend able students. Where appropriate, common misconceptions and suggestions for inclusion of literacy strategies may be included. A glossary of key terms is provided to support students with the development of scientific literacy.
Equipment List
Where applicable, a list of equipment and materials is provided for each practical investigation. The list is arranged by chapter and practical investigation providing an inventory or required materials and streamlines planning and preparation for technicians and teachers.
Supplemental Assessments
An additional set of “unseen” assessment tasks are provided to teachers as secure, ready to use assessments. Questions are designed to prompt students to analyze and evaluate information and synthesize answers. The tasks are suitable to use for formal grading or reporting.
Activity Downloads
Activities that involve graphing, drawing, or hands-on tasks like cut-and-assemble modeling are provided as downloadable PDFs, making it easy for students to complete them outside the digital platform.
Data Spreadsheets (must download)
Some data handling activities are supported with fully editable data spreadsheets. These downloads allow students to interact with the data directly (e.g. manipulate data cells and graphing).
