What happens if my pieces are damaged?

We’ve got you covered! Bipty has policies in place if an item is damaged by the Borrower.

Lenders are compensated for the repair cost for minor damages, such as removable stains, broken zippers, inconspicuous rips or snags, and other similar issues. However, general wear and tear from normal use during the lending period is not considered a minor damage and is expected.

For excessive damage, irreparable damage, loss, theft, or non-return of the item, the Borrower will be charged the receipt value, effectively buying out the item from the Lender. If the item is with the Lender, they must use the provided pre-paid label by Bipty to ship it to the Borrower within 3 days. Failure to do so will result in the closure of the claim. The Lender will be reimbursed for damage costs once the Borrower confirms they received the item.

General wear and tear from normal use is expected during the lending process. The item's condition is reset at the beginning of each borrow, based on pre-shipping time-stamped photos. If noticeable wear and tear occurs during consecutive borrows, the condition prior to the borrow becomes the new "base" condition. Lenders can choose to retire their items after multiple borrows to minimize wear and tear and potential future damage.

The compensation value is determined by the Bipty team and whatever resolution Bipty decides will be binding.

How do I submit a damage claim?

Super simple! Submit a damage ticket by going to the chat button on the bottom right of the screen and following the prompts. Our team will reach out with next steps and make sure you are protected!

Claims must be submitted within 3 days. It is important to handle the claim promptly to maintain an open status. Failure to do so may result in the claim being closed. If there is no communication, the claim will default to closed within 14 days.

Do I need proof or supporting documents?

Yes, you will need to provide the following documentation as supporting evidence for your claim:

  1. Time stamped picture documenting the item's condition before ship out.

  2. Time stamped picture documenting the item's condition after return.

  3. Dry cleaning or repair receipts.

  4. Original purchase receipt.

  5. UPS Tracking Receipt.

Missing or incomplete documentation may result in an incomplete claim.
