If you are worried about your loved one's emotional state or if his mood has been reported "sad" or "bored" repeatedly over the last days, we advise you to go through the GDS test with your loved one.

The 15 questions are read out and the patient is asked how they have felt over the past week using a Yes/No response format. No further explanation or interpretation should be given to the questions. Each answer indicating depression (bold โ€˜yesโ€™ or โ€˜no) counts one point. Scores greater than 5 are indicative of probable depression.

The 15 Questions

If the scores is greater than 5 and you think that your loved one may be suffering from depression, contact your local GP.

Of course, the Birdie Care team is also always available to help you with advice or to guide you through this process.

With love and Care,
Tracey
