What is a beneficial owner?

Explanation of what a beneficial owner is and when disclosure is required.

Updated this week

A beneficial owner is the individual who ultimately owns or controls the funds or assets used in the business relationship with Bity, or on whose behalf a transaction is carried out.

  • If you are using your own funds, you are considered the beneficial owner.

  • If the funds belong to another individual or entity, that person (or those persons) must be declared as the beneficial owner(s).

Where applicable, Bity may require:

  • identification details of the declared beneficial owner(s),

  • and a valid identity document for each beneficial owner.

This information is required to comply with applicable anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.
