Why does Apple Pay say ‘Could Not Add Card’?

A common reason is that the documents you used for identity verification (KYC) are linked to a country where Apple Pay is not supported for your Bix Card. Being eligible for a Bix Card does not automatically mean you can add it to Apple Pay. This error can also have other causes.

What the error means

Apple Wallet may show ‘Could Not Add Card’ followed by: ‘There was a problem adding your card to Wallet. You can try again later or, if the problem persists, contact your card issuer.’

Do this: Check the country linked to the documents you used for KYC against the list below. If it is listed, this may explain why you cannot add your Bix Card to Apple Pay.

Countries where Apple Pay is not supported for the Bix Card

The following countries and territories are currently listed as unsupported for Apple Pay in our Accepted countries and states article:

Antigua and Barbuda

Ghana

Senegal

Bangladesh

Grenada

Suriname

Barbados

Guyana

Thailand

Belize

Kenya

Trinidad and Tobago

Bolivia

Pakistan

Turks and Caicos Islands

Cayman Islands

Saint Kitts and Nevis

Uganda

Côte d'Ivoire

Saint Lucia

Zambia

Dominica

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Do this: Apple Pay is supported in all U.S. states listed as accepted in that article. This list concerns adding your Bix Card to Apple Pay, not general card eligibility or physical-card shipping. See Accepted countries and states.

If your country is not listed or you are unsure

The error alone does not confirm a country restriction. Check that your iPhone supports Apple Pay, iOS is up to date, a passcode or Face ID/Touch ID is enabled, and two-factor authentication is enabled for your Apple Account, as described in Apple’s troubleshooting guide.

If you still cannot add your card, or you are unsure which country is linked to your verification, email support@bix.fi with the error screenshot and the country of the document you used for KYC. Do not include your full card number, security code, passwords, or a copy of your identity document.
