A third party service job is a service job where someone other than the customer is responsible for payment — for example, an insurance company or a warranty provider. The customer order remains in the customer's name because they own the unit, but you can designate a third party as the payer for the job.
How Third Party Service Jobs Work
When creating or editing a service job, Blackpurl asks "Who is paying for this job?" This is where you can switch the payer from the customer to a third party. The key points to understand are:
The customer order always stays in the customer's name — they are the unit owner on record.
A third party payer (such as an insurer or warranty company) can be assigned to cover the cost of the job.
Common third party payers include insurance companies and warranty providers.
Setting Up a Third Party Payer on a Service Job
When working through a service job, look for the option to change who is paying for the job and select Third Party. You can then enter the details of the third party responsible for payment. The customer's details and unit information remain on the order — only the payment responsibility is reassigned.
