Before You Start
Text Message Templates are only available if your dealership has subscribed to two-way texting. Contact the Blackpurl sales team at sales@blackpurl.com to get started, or see Texting (SMS) Blackpurl - What you need to know to set it up / How to Send and Receive Text Messages (no longer available) for setup details.
Accessing Text Message Templates
To access your Text Message Templates, click your initials in the top right corner, then navigate to Settings > Text message templates.
Default Text Message Templates
When two-way texting is set up on your Blackpurl account, a set of default Text Message Templates is automatically created for you. Your dealership can use these defaults as-is, or you can create additional templates to suit your needs.
Create a New Text Message Template
To create a new template, click + Create a template on the Text message templates page.
The New text template window will open. Complete the following fields:
1. Template Name | Give your template a descriptive name so it's easy to identify when sending messages. |
2. Type your message | Enter the text you want this message to say. To insert a system variable (such as Store Name), type [ and select the relevant variable from the list that appears. |
3. Character Count | Displays the number of characters used. Keep an eye on this as SMS messages have character limits. |
4. Save | Click Save to save your new template. |
5. Variables | A reference list of all variables available to insert into the message body. |
Edit or Delete a Text Message Template
To edit an existing template, find the relevant Text Message Template on the Text message templates page and click View & edit, then make your changes.
To delete a template, find the relevant Text Message Template and click the Delete (trash can) button.
Deleted templates cannot be restored. If you delete a template by mistake, you will need to create a new one from scratch.
Using Text Message Templates
Text Message Templates are available when sending a text from a Customer Record or from a Customer Order. Click Send Text from either location to open the Send a Text window, where you will see the option to Select a text message template. Choose the appropriate template and it will populate the message field automatically.
