This article covers additional information for Third-Party Service Jobs, including warranty and insurance claims. It explains how to switch service job types, manage line item changes after submission, use claim status actions, and configure taxable deductibles.
Switching Service Job Types
You can change the Who is paying for the job? setting on any active Customer Order Service Job. This means a Customer Pay Service Job can be switched to a Third-Party Service Job (such as a warranty claim) at any time.
For example, when a customer books a unit in, the dealership may not yet know it will become a warranty job. Once that becomes clear, you can switch the Service Job to a Third-Party pay situation. When you change the job type, all line item pricing automatically realigns to suit the new job type and the Third-Party payer.
Other Information
Service Job Line Item Changes After Submission
Once the claim status has been set to Submitted, you can continue to make additions, deletions, and changes to Service Job line items.
Any changes made after submission are reflected in the Claims Response Wizard. For example, if you submit a claim and then add a line item for a replacement Muffler, that additional line will appear in the Claims Response Wizard.
If any Service Job line items have variances in the Claim Response, a variance indicator appears to the right of the line item total. This lets the dealership see at a glance that a variance has been recorded against that line item. For example, if the Muffler price changed from $500 to $455 during the Claim Response, the indicator appears next to that line item to show it was changed.
Service Job Section Header Claim Status
The Claim status icon in the Service Job section header is actionable through the Submitted and Approved statuses.
When the claim is in Unsubmitted status — selecting the icon opens the Claim Submission Wizard.
When the claim is in Submitted status — selecting the icon opens the Claim Response Wizard.
When the claim is in Approved status — selecting the icon reopens the Claim Response Wizard in either editable or read-only mode, depending on the current status of the Service Job.
Claim Job Action
A job action is available on Third-Party Service Jobs that lets you action or view the claim. The name of the action reflects the current claim status. For example, when the claim status is Approved, the available job action is View Claim.
Claim Response Wizard
Approval dates in the Claim Response Wizard can be backdated.
You can modify both the CLAIMED values and the APPROVED values within the wizard.
Any variances billed to the customer will create a new Customer Pay Service Job on the same Customer Order. When finalizing the claim, a warning appears to remind you of the restrictions this action places on the Service Job.
Deductible Is Taxable
In some countries, deductibles (insurance excesses) are taxable. If this applies to your location, configure the tax setting in Blackpurl so that deductibles are taxed correctly when charged to the customer.
1. Go to System Settings.
2. Select Settings & Controls.
3. Open Tax Settings.
4. Find the Default tax on claim deductibles setting and select the relevant tax.
Once configured, deductibles charged to your customer will be taxable.
