The identification process is a fundamental part of the KYC Suite. To offer our users the best fit for you identification scenario, the KYC Suite support multiple solutions and workflows.

Contents

Manual identification workflow

For any scenario, you can use the manual identification workflow. Upload documents, fill in the data and review the available details for your client, so that you are confident the person you are identifying are who they say they are.

The manual identification workflow can be completed only by users with the appropriate permission, so that you can limit the coworkers who can review the clients identity. Read more on Access Management: User groups & Permissions.

Automatic data filling with ABBYY

We use ABBYY to take a picture of an identity document. Alternatively, users can upload a document themselves. Our integration with ABBYY detects the data inside the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) on an identity document. We use this detection to fill in the data necessary to identify the client.

Fraud detection with Mitek

One of our partners in the identification process is Mitek. They offer a solution that makes it easy to verify your customers and detect fraud. There are different setups available within the Mitek integration option.

We support the following validation methods:

  • Auto
The Mitek automatic verification uses their AI to give instant feedback on the document.

  • Agent
A person trained in verifying documents will give their verdict on whether a document is authentic and valid.
โ€‹Note: Currently the agent option is listed in the settings as "Manual" or "Expert". These are legacy options and will be renamed into "Agent" in the future.

We support the following additional options:

  • ID and Selfie (recommended)

During the identification process the user will take a photo of their identification document and a selfie.
We recommend this option as it simulates a real life identification process and optimises the success rate.

  • ID (not recommended)
During the identification process the user is able to either 1) live capture a picture of their document or 2) upload a copy of their document. No selfie will be captured.
We do not recommend this option, as fraudsters have an increased chance to upload a false document.
As an alternative for allowing users to upload documents, we recommend to using the "Manual identification workflow".

We highly recommend using the live capture feature of Mitek for each natural person and enable the "ID and Selfie" option. As this will minimise the possibilities for fraudsters to mislead you by uploading false identification.
