Introduction
When building a List, there are many options for answer types. This article explains each one of them so you can pick the right one to collect the data you need.
Jump To:
YES / NO
Yes / No is the default answer type. It works like a true or false statement, where you can decide which answer is pass or fail. Depending on how the user answers, conditional logic additions to this task may trigger more tasks needing to be performed, such as require photos, comments, or jump to another task based on which answer they choose. There is lots of flexibility with this answer type.
CHECKMARK
The user simply checks off that the task was complete. This is great for simple tasks like "Turn on the grill" or "Sweep the patio." Pro Tip: If too many tasks use the checklist answer type, it makes it easy for a user to fly through a checklist. It's nice to mix up the answer types, to ensure tasks are being performed and you're collecting data and proof.
SHORT ANSWER
Short Answer provides a text field in which a longer answer can be typed. When this answer type is used, the default setting is that it is required, which means someone will have to type something in the box every time. When you first select Short Answer, you'll have the option to change this to "optional" if entering text is not required each time a checklist or audit is performed.
MULTIPLE CHOICE
Multiple choice allows you to set different answers to a question or a task. Similarly to Yes / No, you determine which answers are a pass, or which will fail the task. You can also set conditional logic to this answer type too such as requiring photos, comments, or jumping to another task based on which answer they choose. Just like the Yes or No answer type, there are lots of flexibility with this answer type.
PHOTO
Photo answer types provide a lot of sight into the operation, providing accountability and transparency. You can require a review of this task after completion, which means once the checklist is submitted, a review action item will be sent to a supervisor with reviewing permissions to review and verify.
Email answer types will send a copy of the completion report to any email entered in this field.
DATE
Date answer types will force a valid calendar date as the answer to the task or question in the Audit or Checklist. This might be good for keeping track of certifications; for example: "When does the QFO's certification end?" or "When was the last Health Inspection?"
TIME
Time answer types will force a valid time as the answer to the task or question in the Audit or Checklist. This might be good for paying attention to temps being taken in the operation. For example, "What time was the last smoker temperature taken? Look on the temp log"
TEMPERATURE
Temperature answer type will require a temperature answer and a pre-determined range for what is considered pass or fail. If the user enters a temp that is out of range, the system will require action based on how you set up this task.
RANGE SCALE
Range scale allows you to rate a question or a task based on a sliding scale. Different point values can be earned based on how you answer, and different action items can be created based on the answer, all customizeable to your organization.
NUMBER
The pink #Number button will require a valid number answer, and you have the option to pre-determine what a good range of correct answers might be. The default, if any answer above 0 is acceptable, then set the range to "greater or equal to 0" but you do have the options to get more specific. These number answers can also be used in calculations when used with the Formula answer type, as explained below.
FORMULA
The purple formula button is great for calculating math within a checklist. You might use this for a safe count or cash drawer count. It will only work if there are other line items in the checklist that use the pink "#Number" answer type because it will use those answers in its calculation.
PAR FILL
The pink Par Fill answer type is great for Prep Lists. You define how much of an item you want available for a day, the user enters in how much is on hand, and Blanket tells them how much to make.
SIGNATURE
The light purple Signature button is used when you want to capture a signature within a checklist. This is good for manager sign-off's or extra validation from another user. For example, on a drawer count sheet, a Cashier might count and enter the numbers, but a manager needs to verify and prove that they confirm the count, so a manager's signature is required within the Cashier's checklist

USER
Answer type "User" makes the user select another user from their team list. Once submitted, the selected person will get a copy of the list report.
