Introduction
Build your label printer database right in the Blanket web portal; it's easy to manage your operation in one place.
To begin, navigate to the Food Safety menu, then select Labels.
Always build your categories first, then create label templates, then add your ingredients. Let's go through the steps:
Categories
First, let's build your Categories. This helps your team find ingredients quicker by having them organized. Common category names are Produce, Meats, Sauces, etc.
Use the blue " + Add Category " to create a new category and select the button color.
Templates
Next, let's build your label Templates.
Templates allow you to put the information you need on the printed label. The Default template is your standard "USE BY" label with Item Name, Employee's Name, and expiration (use by) date.
You can make labels that exclude the employee's name, or expiration date. Maybe you need a short ingredient list, or allergy notice. You can build all of these with our label templates.
See below for a sample of different label templates.
Ingredients
Now, we can add your ingredients, or items. Click the " + Add Item " to begin.
Give your item a name, and select which category it belongs to. Then you'll need to select at least one label template for that item. You can add multiple if needed. For example; you may need a USE BY label for prepped quinoa salad, but you may also want an allergy notice for that item so people know it contains nuts.
On the label app, each ingredient will have all of the templates assigned to that item available.
