Our good friend and power user, Neil (from Saskatchewan, Canada) asked the following:
In our area, Google maps and satellite imagery tend to be up to 10 years out of date, whereas in other regions they seem to be fairly up to date. No doubt this is due to population density, but is there any way to hurry them up?
Sure enough... you may notice that Google Maps does not have a real-time satellite view of your preplanned locations! You might zoom in on a structure and see a field, or see it under construction...
NOTE: The imagery update answers change over time due to Google and their partners. So let us know if any links are broken.
Option 1
Submit feedback via the Earth app, Google Play or the App Store, and tell us where you’d like to see an imagery refresh along with a screenshot centered on your area of interest. We use this feedback to help inform where to refresh our imagery in the future.
Using Google Chrome on your computer, open Google Earth.
On the top left, click Help Menu > Send Feedback.
Describe your issue and decide if you want to include a screenshot.
To adjust the image you send, click on the screenshot and follow the instructions.
Click Send.
Option 2
If it is critical to have up-to-date overhead views, consider using drone technology to map each site.
This can either be a purchase -- if you plan to do it frequently, or a contracted effort.
Option 3
At the Org level preferences, the Org Admin can switch the Google Map Type to choose:
Roadmap
Satellite
Hybrid
Terrain
