Calculating Custom Hose Lay Distances

When you need extended hoselines to reach the hydrant, use Google Maps.

By default, Blazemark shows the distance between a structure and a water supply that is based on a straight line between the GPS coordinates. However, you can jump out of Blazemark to Google Maps, and use their built-in measuring tool.

Essentially:

  • From within Google Maps, either via an address or a gps coordinate

  • Right-click on the google map marker (pin)

  • Choose manual distance

  • Click the mouse to draw straight line segments

  • The total distance will be displayed!

Now you can enter that custom distance for that water supply for that specific structure.

For example, the standard distances are calculated as stright lines:

But, let's say we wanted to enter a more accurate hose lay for the Water Tank -- we can do so outside of BZ using Google Maps ruler feature.

And then we can override the default value in Blazemark (click on the pencil icon):
