Ryan and Tyler out in Helena, Montana, were discovering Google has some errors on their street names. (See this article for imagery errors.)

Here is an article describing how to submit an error to the Google team.

Fix incorrect info about a road

  1. On your computer, open Google Maps.

  2. In the top left, click Menu ☰.

  3. At the bottom, click Edit the map > Wrong information.

  4. Select the road or place you want to fix from the list.

  5. Select the type of info you want to fix.

To send your feedback, follow the on-screen instructions.

Add a missing road

  1. On your computer, open Google Maps.

  2. Click Menu ☰.

  3. At the bottom, click Edit the map > Missing road.

  4. On the map, click the location of the missing road.

  5. Add the road name and any extra information.

  6. Click Submit.

As the method described above may change over time, feel free to let us know if this info is out of date.

Workaround

Our normal process of locating the address on the map relies on street names by default.

So the best you can do is probably something like this, taking advantage of "Disable continuous geocoding:"

  • Work with google to get the pin on the map where you want it for the location

  • Ignore the fact that the street name is wrong.

  • Save the item

  • Edit the item again, this time select the checkbox to "Disable geocoding"

  • Now you can carefully edit the address to correct the street name.

  • Without leaving the address field, click on the Save button.

Here is an example where Google wanted Veterans Dr., but the real address is now "Liberty Lane:"
