User Roles

Roles determine what each user can do. Org admin, author, read-only user.

In Blazemark, you can assign different roles to users to permit different levels of functionality by going to the Admin | Manage Users and clicking on the user name that you want to edit.

User Roles Defined

The "Org Admin" is an all-powerful role designed for usually just a small percentage of folks in the organization, while the "User" role is simply for read-only access. The "Author" role is for those users assigned to create and maintain preplans.

  • User -- Read-only. Able to access and see the preplan info. Useful for apparatus "users" for onboard tablets in your rigs.

  • Author -- Able to turn Edit Mode "on" to create, edit, and delete preplans.

  • Org Admin -- Author rights, plus able to invite users, adjust system-wide settings, import hydrants, help out their fellow users, etc.

Who should be an author?

You can select certain users and give them the author role. The advantage of having more authors is to allow in-the-field edits by responsible individuals.

  • Maybe they see a name changed on an Apartment Complex

  • Maybe a hydrant is out of service

  • Maybe some construction is happening on an existing preplan and they want to snap a photo and add it to the preplan right "from the field"

The best approach might be allowing folks to login and make a change right on the spot!

How to Change a User's Role

  • From the Admin Menu

  • Choose "Manage Users"

  • Click on the user name -- or the "Edit" pencil

  • Then you can select the appropriate role

  • Save your changes
