ADVANCED CONCEPT

Ever wonder:

  • Why do some structure have more available fields than others?

  • Why can't I see <fill-in-the-blank> data?

Or:

  • How can I hide some structure properties (e.g., LxWxH and Number of Floors) that do not apply to a specific context (e.g., Rail Yards, or Wildlands)?

  • What if I have numerous structure preplans that are for the same type of scenario and never have certain types of information (e.g., no standpipes or sprinklers)?

  • How can I standardize the captured data and what is presented to the user?

Structure Templates are your answer!

Structure templates limit which standard properties are visible for a given structure.

NOTE: Templates are non-destructive. Templates do not remove data you have entered, as they merely control what is visible/editable.

Applying a Template

As an Author, you can create a structure using a template, or apply the template to existing structures.
โ€‹
When you edit an existing structure, just below the outlined Quick Action Plan, you will see the template drop-down available for you to apply/change the template.

Creating a Template

As an Author, you can create a template, add a name, choose an icon, and enter a helpful description.

Sample template form:

You can then adjust which properties and elements are part of the template. Click on the text (e.g., "name" or "fire_flows") to move it from one side to the other. Elements that you move to the right-hand box will be visible. Click on them again to move them to the left (hide).
