Roles
Every workspace member is assigned one of three roles:
Admin — Full access to all features, including workspace management and the knowledge base. Admins are exempt from access group restrictions and always have full access to all data.
User — Access to all query and dashboard features, but cannot manage the workspace. Technical users also get access to the knowledge base for training the AI. Users in simplified (non-technical) mode do not see the knowledge base.
Dashboard Viewer — Can only view dashboards. Does not have access to Blaze Chat, the knowledge base, or other features. This is a reduced-cost seat at $10/month, ideal for stakeholders who just need to see reports. Access groups still control which data appears in their dashboards.
Inviting Members
Click the + Invite button in the workspace sidebar to open the invite dialog. From here you can configure everything about the new member before sending the invitation.
Role
Select the role from the dropdown — Admin, User, or Dashboard Viewer.
Access groups
If your workspace has access groups, you can assign the invitee to one or more groups. Groups control which databases, tables, and columns the member can query. This field is optional — members not assigned to any group get the default database access configured per database.
Databases
When your workspace has no access groups, you can directly select which databases the invitee can access. Once you create access groups, database access is managed through groups and this dropdown becomes read-only, showing the databases the selected groups grant access to.
Simplified mode
Toggle this on for non-technical users. Simplified mode hides:
Database selection dropdown
Database structure and table lists
Model selection settings
This gives non-technical team members a cleaner interface where they simply ask questions in natural language without being exposed to database details. Simplified mode is not available for the Dashboard Viewer role since Dashboard Viewers already have a streamlined view.
Share link
Generate a reusable invitation link to share with anyone you want to invite. The link inherits the role, group assignments, and settings you configured in the dialog.
Approval & Auto-Join
When someone uses an invite link or requests access to your workspace, they normally enter a pending approval state — an admin must approve them before they can start using BlazeSQL.
To skip this step for trusted domains, enable the auto-approve organization emails toggle in Workspace Settings. When enabled, anyone with an email address matching your organization's domain (e.g. @yourcompany.com) joins immediately without waiting for admin approval.
Managing Existing Members
Navigate to Workspace → All members to see everyone on your team. Members are displayed in a sortable table with columns for email, role, group, and account created. Click any column header to sort.
From the members table you can:
Change a member's role at any time
Reassign members to different access groups
Toggle simplified mode on or off
Remove members from the workspace
