Unfortunately, punctures are the bane of a cyclist's life. You can go years without a puncture and then, like buses, three can appear in quick succession.
Here are some tips to keep your tyres as puncture-free as possible:
Frequent punctures can stem from several issues, including improper tire pressure and debris embedded in the tire.
Checking and maintaining your tyres, including inspecting them for debris and ensuring proper inflation, can significantly reduce the risk of punctures.
Finding the Right Pressure: The tyre sidewall will indicate a recommended pressure range, often as a maximum PSI or a range.
Maintaining the correct PSI: check your tyre pressure every one to two weeks
Avoid riding over certain terrains: While it may seem obvious, try to safely avoid riding over manhole covers, potholes, and bumps in the road.
Check for debris on your tyre: Periodically spin your tyre around and check for any glass or sharp debris penetrating the tyre. If you see anything, try to pick it out.
When you get a puncture fixed at a bike shop, as part of the repair they will inspect the tyre and wheel rim before refitting the inner tube to ensure nothing is still in the tyre.
