Line items that are added in the estimate window and sent to production cannot be “deleted” within the production window. The idea is that once you’ve sent line items to production from your estimate, they’re approved in the production budget, locked, and now you’re waiting for receipts.

However, overages that are added and approved in production can be deleted. When you press on an approved overage, you will have the option to delete it if it becomes unneeded.

All that said, the way to effectively delete a line item is to edit it in the Estimate and then “overwrite production” while in the estimate window > hamburger menu (see pic below). Be aware that the overwriting action causes all line items and receipts that are added in production to be replaced with the items as they appear back in the original estimate phase. Therefore, you will lose what progress you currently have in production.

Key words: production, line items, line items in production, overages, delete line item.
