Troubleshooting QuickBooks error messages

We're sorry that you've encountered any difficulty with importing to Quickbooks and we apologize for any inconvenience. There are a couple of things to try for troubleshooting an error message:

  1. It could be that the character length is too long for Quickbooks to accept the import and that's why you're getting the failure or error message. QuickBooks can only support 21 characters in the Invoice Number field. This can be caused by extra spaces added into the job name (usually at the end). Try to delete those extra spaces if there are any and that should remedy the issue.

  2. Ensure that you do not have any special characters in the job title. Quickbooks (an Intuit product) is very stringent on the allowable characters and the length of these characters. So, it may be that the invoice title is too long or currently includes special characters (!,& etc).

  3. If your import does not work at first, you can try logging out of BlinkBid from the financial page and then back in. Folks have reported that the job successfully imports after logging back in.

  4. QuickBooks Self-Employed does not integrate to BlinkBid. QuickBooks Online is the only service that connects to BlinkBid Online.

  5. "Quickbooks error: "Categories cannot be used in transactions." If you receive this error when connecting to QuickBooks, it means that your one or more of your QuickBooks categories and your BlinkBid categories are the same, which the system does not allow. Referred to as "identifiers," BlinkBid's categories that transfer over to QuickBooks include: "Fees" "Production" "Job Markup" and "Insurance Markup." If you change the category identifiers inside QuickBooks, the problem will resolve.

  6. "Duplicate Name Exists Error: The name supplied already exists. : null." If you receive this error when connecting to QuickBooks, it means that one or more of the job names or clients names is duplicated or already listed as a vendor. The QuickBooks system does not allow a contact to exist as both a vendor and a customer. It will be flagged as a duplicate inside the system, and will not import. If you change the name of the customer/vendor inside the job, it will import successfully.

Please contact if these options do not fix the issue and we'll look into it further.
