Merge or edit trades and transfers yourself

Blockpit recognizes most trades (also called swaps or converts) and transfers automatically. Sometimes, however, they arrive as two separate transactions, a withdrawal and a deposit, both with the tip Unlabeled (In/Out). Here you connect them yourself or add the missing side.

Withdrawal and deposit are both in Blockpit

Merge: select both and connect them

Only one side is in Blockpit

Edit: extend the existing transaction to a trade or transfer

Connect two transactions (merge)

How to connect them to a trade, transfer or token migration

1️⃣ In Transactions, select both counterparts using the checkboxes.

2️⃣ Select the label in the action bar and click Merge.

3️⃣ Two transactions become one with the label Transfer, Trade or Token Migration.

▸ Trade in wallets: If a blockchain or wallet integration did not recognize a Trade, you select both sides and choose Trade, then Merge.

▸ Across integrations: Merging and editing also work between different integrations.

▸ Transfer within one integration: normally between two integrations, but in the case of a chargeback (failed transaction) also within one.

▸ Undo: Split Transaction separates trades, transfers and token migrations that were created, edited or merged manually.

▸ Finding them again: The filter View: Merged shows your manual connections, View: Auto-Merged the automatic transfers.

Add one side (edit)

How to turn a single transaction into a trade or transfer

⚠️ Caution: First check without fail whether the counterpart is perhaps already there. This is the most common cause of self-created duplicates. To check, filter by date and asset.

1️⃣ Click the three dots on the transaction and select Edit.

2️⃣ In the sidebar, click the label and select Transfer, Trade or Token Migration.

3️⃣ Select the second integration and the asset, enter the amount, add details if needed and click Save.

💡 Tip: If the second integration cannot be selected yet, create it first, for unsupported platforms as a Manual Integration.

This is what the result looks like:

Typical mistakes

✗ Adding a missing side via Edit although it is already imported → duplicate, wrong balance

✗ Connecting two transactions that do not belong together → wrong acquisition costs; separate them again with Split Transaction

✗ Connecting a Trade as a Transfer → the swap is not recorded for tax purposes
