Best practices for uploading a .pdf, resolutions to common errors.

Due to the process that happens in Blocks of intaking the packet, changing it, and splitting it up into multiple files, the loading process is much more intensive than attaching a file to an email or loading it into dropbox or other systems.

Here are some best practices for uploading scans:

File must be in pdf format, however the filename cannot contain ‘.pdf’ more than once.

Filenames are unique to each Shift - if you see this error message double check that you have not already uploaded this packet. If this is indeed not a duplicate packet, change the filename slightly (add a number or an underscore before the “.pdf”).

Ensure that the packet has been through the optimization step in the redaction process.  This will shrink the file size to be able to upload.

While there are no speed requirements, we recommend an upload speed of at least 2 Mbps.

If a scan is edited during the redaction process (beyond the normal redaction lines), there is a good chance that the file will not be viewable in QC.

If you have uploaded an incorrect packet, duplicate packet or unredacted packet, this will be flagged in Visual QC. You will be able to upload the corrected packet directly into the flag without creating a new shift.

You cannot edit any of the scans once the packet has been uploaded into the system. For example, if your cover sheet has errors, you will need to delete the shift and packet containing that cover sheet, edit your cover sheet manually, and then create the shift again in order to upload the edited cover sheet and packet.
