Make a Grant to a Charity
Updated this week

Submitting a One-Time Grant

Making a grant to charity through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a simple and tax-efficient way to give. Here’s how the process works:

  1. Navigate to the Give tab. Use the Search Bar, Favorites, or Explore new charities within the platform. Once you have selected your desired charity > click Give in the top right corner.

  2. Enter the One-time Gift amount, gift date, and enter a Purpose for your grant, which includes many options such as “In honor of”, “Missionary Support”, “Special Project Fund” and many others.

    • If “Other” is selected, provide a detailed reason for the purpose in which the grant funds should be used.

  3. Ensure the gift is NOT used for personal gain such as:

    • Tuition

    • Membership fees

    • Dues

    • Admission to charitable events

    • Goods bought at auction

    • Organizational pledge

    • Lobbying

    • Political contributions

  4. Check the box if you would like to give your grant anonymously, otherwise, your fund name and e-mail address will be provided to the grantee.

  5. Check the box to certify that the grant submission meets the Blue Trust Program Guidelines.

  6. Once submitted, your grant will go into the pending state while it is reviewed. Navigate to the Grant History to view the status and timeline for your grant.

Setting Up Recurring Grants

  1. Navigate to the Give tab. Use the Search Bar, Favorites, or Explore new charities within the platform. Once you have selected your desired charity > click Give in the top right corner.

  2. Follow the same steps as a one-time gift, however, select Recurrent when choosing the frequency of your grant. Add a start date, end date, and frequency for the recurring gift:

Let's say you want to grant to a charity on the same day of every month, this would be the date the grant recommendation was received. From there, it's a 3-5 day process for completing and processing the grant.

Charity-Specific Donation History

To view the grant history for a specific charity, navigate to the charity's profile page. Towards the bottom of the page, you will see the Grant History for this charity, along with the Total Grants made, dollar amount of all grants, and a history of each individual grant.

Use the filter to narrow down your grants to a specific status or year:

Use the downward facing arrow to download the grant history.
