Introduction
People are a central concept to boardcycle - everything in board and committee processes is done by a person after all! Examples of things you will want to do with people include:
adding people as members of your forums
adding people (whether they are members or not) as a participant to a meeting
adding people (whether they are members or not) as a participant to an item at a meeting
Before you do those things, people need to exist in a company. Read on to learn how!
Worth knowing: people vs users
Adding a person to your boardcycle account does not add that person as a user or give them any access to boardcycle - it simply creates a profile for that person that users can then use in your boardcycle account.
Adding a new person
There are two ways you can add a person to a company:
via the People tab; or
when you are adding a person to a forum, meeting or item.
Adding a person via the People Tab
In boardcycle, people are added to companies. To add a person via the People tab:
if you have more than one company, select the company where you want to add that person
select the People tab
click + Add Person
fill in the person's full name and title
click Save
Adding a person when adding them to a forum, meeting, item or action
It is only possible to add someone to a forum, meeting, item or action if they've been added to your company first - but sometimes you will only realise that someone hasn't been added to your company when you're trying to do one of these tasks.
For that reason, you can also add a person during the process of adding someone to a forum, meeting or item as follows:
click the Add Person icon
fill in the person's full name and title
click Save
you will then see a confirmation that the new person has been added to your company - after closing that page you will be returned to the original place you were trying to add that person and will now be able to add them.
Worth knowing: title
A persons title in boardcycle should be their job title (e.g. Chief Executive Officer) not their saluation.
