So, you’ve just got your new Bold Visa® Debit Card—exciting! Before you can start using it for your purchases, you need to activate it. Don’t worry. It’s a quick and easy process. We’re here to walk you through the steps to help you get your debit card ready for use. Just follow these simple instructions, and you'll have your debit card up and running in no time. Let’s get started!

Methods of Activation

Online Activation

You can activate your Bold Debit Card by logging on to the Bold.org website. All you need is an account with Bold.org and the last four digits of your debit card number, plus your expiration date.

Phone Activation

Bold.org has a customer service number that allows you to activate your Bold Debit Card by calling in and following prompts. For this, you'll need to dial in and provide some personal and account details.

Mobile App Activation

Users can also choose to activate their Bold Debit Card on a mobile device. All you have to do is sign in to the Bold.org mobile app, choose the "Card" tab, and enter the necessary information.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Online Activation

1. Log in to your Bold.org account.

2. Navigate to the Banking tab.

3. Click Activate card.

4. Follow the prompts to complete activation.

5. Enter the necessary information.

6. Confirmation message and verification. Check that you have received a confirmation and verification message to affirm the success of your card activation.

Phone Activation

Mobile App Activation

  1. Open the Bold.org mobile app.

  2. Log in with your credentials.

  3. Navigate to the "Card" tab.

  5. Enter your debit card details.

  7. Confirmation message and verification. Check that you have received a confirmation and verification message to complete the card activation.

Post-Activation Steps

After you have successfully activated your debit card, you will want to take some additional post-activation steps to ensure your funds are secured but easily accessible to you.

1. Setting Up PIN

If you haven't set up your PIN during activation, you can set it up or change it in these simple steps:

1. Log in to Bold.org.

2. Click on "Banking".

3. Click "My card".

4. Click "Manage PIN".

5. Enter your password.

6. Type in a new PIN.

It is important to choose a strong PIN to avoid security issues. Here are some things to avoid:

  • only using the same number (e.g. 9999)

  • a sequence of numbers in order (e.g. 1234)

  • a number that is easily guessed or available online (e.g., your birthday)

2. Add Funds to Your Bold Debit Card

1. Log in to your Bold.org account.

2. Navigate to the Banking tab.

3. Click “Add funds”.

4. Add funds through any of the five options:

  • Debit card transfer: A transfer from another debit card.

  • One-time transfer: A transfer sent once from a linked account.

  • Recurring transfer: A transfer of a fixed amount on a recurring basis.

  • Smart Transfer: A transfer that automatically tops up your account when your balance reaches a threshold you set.¹

  • Set up paycheck deposit: A way to add funds by receiving your paycheck directly to your account.

3. Add Your Bold Debit Card to Digital Wallets

  1. Open the digital wallet app. This may be Apple Pay® or Google Pay™, depending upon which digital wallet you use.

  2. Add card. Tap the "+" sign to add a new card.

  3. Enter card information. You may use your phone's camera to capture the Bold Debit Card information or you may enter it manually.

  4. Read and accept the terms and conditions.

  5. Verify your card. This may come in the form of an SMS text message, an email, or a phone call.
