Creating a scholarship or fund on Bold.org is a meaningful way to support students or causes you care about. To start the process, you’ll need to submit a proposal outlining your vision. Once submitted, this unlocks the option to schedule an onboarding call with our Donor Team or sends a second proposal for us to configure on your behalf. Here’s how to get started:
Step 1: Create a Bold.org Donor Account
Before you can propose a scholarship or fund, you'll need to create a donor account. If you haven't signed up yet, Get Started Here. The sign-up process will prompt you to answer a few questions to help us understand your goals. After verifying your email, navigate to your Donor Dashboard.
Step 2: Propose a Scholarship or Fund
Once on your Donor Dashboard, click “Create a Scholarship” or “Create a Fund” in the top-right corner. You can also do both in the same flow. These options will guide you through a series of questions that will help draft your scholarship or fundraising page.
Proposing a Scholarship:
Here are some of the questions you'll be asked to answer when creating your scholarship:
Describe your scholarship idea: Share as many details as possible—our Donor Team will review and provide a full proposal for your approval.
Describe your ideal applicant: What qualities, interests, or experiences should applicants have?
Award timing: Are there any specific events or dates around which you'd like to award the scholarship (e.g., memorials, awareness months)?
Essay requirement (optional): Do you want applicants to submit an essay?
Additional file submissions (optional): Should applicants submit any images or other files?
Scholarship name: What would you like to name your scholarship?
Number of winners: How many students will receive the award?
Award amount: How much will each winner receive?
Open to contributions: Would you like to allow other donors to contribute to the scholarship?
Proposing a Fund:
If you choose to propose a fund, you'll be prompted to answer additional questions about your fundraising goals:
Purpose of the fund: Share the story and motivation behind creating the fund.
Memorial funds: Is this fund in memory of a loved one?
Fundraising goal (optional): How much would you like to raise?
Cover photo (optional): Upload an image to represent the fund.
Fund name: What would you like to call your fund?
Step 3: Finalize Your Proposal & Schedule an Onboarding Call
After completing your scholarship or fund proposal, you’ll see a confirmation screen with a link to schedule a 15-minute phone call with our Donor Team. This call is crucial to meet your dedicated donor relations manager, finalize the details of your proposal, and ensure everything is ready for publishing.
