About Our Prepayment Policy

Q: What is the prepayment authorisation fee?

A: Our prepayment authorisation fee is used to validate your payment method before a charging session starts and aligns with the average cost of a session.

Q: How is the prepayment fee handled?

A: The prepayment fee is temporarily held when you initiate a charging session. It is not directly taken from your account but is held to ensure payment validation.

Q: What happens to the prepayment fee after my charging session?

A: After your charging session, the prepayment amount is used to cover your actual session cost. If your session costs less than the prepayment, you will be refunded the prepayment amount minus the session cost. If the session cost exceeds the prepayment, the prepayment will be used towards the total charging cost and we will only charge you for the additional amount due.

Q: How often is prepayment taken?

A: Prepayment is limited to once per hour, unless you complete a successful charge and charge more than once within the hour. That means if your charge fails and you have to reattempt it within the one hour period, you will not be charged additional prepayments and your original prepayment will cover these attempts. If you successfully complete a charge and charge again within the one hour period, you will be charged another prepayment.

Q: How long will it take for the prepayment amount to be refunded to me?

A: The duration for the prepayment refund to appear in your account depends on your bank’s processing times. Typically, this is completed within a few business days.

Q: Does prepayment cover the full cost of a charging session?

A: Prepayment is an estimate of the session cost. If your session cost is less than the prepayment, you’ll receive a refund for the difference. If it's more, we'll charge the extra amount to your account.

Q: How can I track my prepayment and charges?

A: Your prepayment will appear as a line item on your invoice, along with all other charging costs from your session. Your charging invoices can be accessed in the OVO Charge app.
