Sending invoices via URL

Sending invoices outside of Bonsai.

Sending an invoice via a URL is a convenient way to share with your clients. After creating your invoice, you can easily generate a unique URL link to send to your client through your preferred communication channels.

Important: Paid invoices cannot generate a shareable URL.

Generating a URL for an Invoice

  1. Navigate to Invoices.

  2. Select the invoice you want to send via URL.

  3. Click the Send Now button (top right corner).

  4. Choose Send via URL.

  5. Copy the unique URL generated and share it with your client.

When you send the invoice via URL, please be aware that your client will not receive an email notification. If you’d like to also send the invoice to the email address on file, simply navigate to the 'Send Email' tab to do so.

URL Expiration and Security

  • The URL expires 30 days after the invoice’s payment due date.

  • If the URL expires, a new one can be generated via the expired link message.

  • Only share the URL with trusted recipients, as anyone with access can view the invoice.

Tracking Client Activity

  • Even when sent via URL, you can track the client’s interactions under the Activity timeline on the invoice.

  • Activity includes:

    • When the invoice was first viewed

    • When the invoice was paid successfully

Best Practices

  • Combine URL sharing with email notifications to ensure the client receives the invoice.

  • Keep instructions self-contained so team members or AI agents can share invoices without additional documentation.

  • Verify invoice status before sharing to avoid confusion if it has already been paid.
