How does integrating with Zapier work?
How does integrating with Zapier work?

A step by step guide for getting started with Zapier.

Updated over a week ago

Zapier lets you connect APP to 1,500+ other web services. Automated connections called Zaps, set up in minutes with no coding, can automate your day-to-day tasks and build workflows between apps that otherwise wouldn't be possible.

Each Zap has one app as the Trigger, where your information comes from and which causes one or more Actions in other apps, where your data gets sent automatically.

Setting up Zapier to use it with Bonsai

First up, sign up for a free Zapier account, from there you can jump right in.

In Bonsai, visit your integrations page.

Under the Zapier integration, click "Generate New API Key". Copy your new API key.

You're ready to create automations between Zapier and Bonsai!

Sending information to Bonsai

This works great to send information from other tools to Bonsai. For example, if you're collecting leads via Jotform, Typeform, or Calendly, you can make sure that information lands in your Bonsai Clients or Projects list.

Here's how it works:

Create the Zap. In this case, all new responses to a specific Typeform will automatically create a new Client in Bonsai.

Then, choose which fields you want to automatically edit in Bonsai. These are all the fields you can edit for your Clients in Bonsai.

Next, you can map those fields to your Typeform's questions. So the responses will automatically fill those fields in Bonsai.

And now you're done! The next time a lead fills out your form, they'll land directly in this Client list.

Trigger workflows from Bonsai

This works great to streamline workflows. For example, you can automatically create a task in your task tool—ClickUp for example—once a Proposal is accepted. It could be a task to create a Contract.

There are many ways to use this, all you need to do is find your apps to send your data to!

If you have any additional questions, you can reach out to contact@zapier.com or chat with Bonsai via the chat widget on our site.
