Strategies for success with sending Broadcasts within Bonzo.

Updated over a week ago

Broadcasting to prospects is one of the core features of Bonzo - allowing you to gather a list of individuals and send them customized messages whenever you want. Let's take a second to go through some helpful tips and tricks when it comes to broadcasting inside Bonzo:)

To start out - you can broadcast to any group of people by simply selecting the broadcast button while in a pipeline stage, campaign, or filtered group of people on the People's tab.

Tip #1

Selecting all people, specifically on the People's tab - only selects the visible prospects on that page. This means that if you're wanting to select a whole list of people from a filtered view OR are trying to select your whole database, you'll need to click Select All in the popup menu.

Tip #2

Selecting prospects from the People tab and then changing your search terms will not clear out the previous selections. You'll notice in the screenshot below that it shows that the Total selected is 25 while the page itself is showing 0 of those selected prospects.

Now the question might be - why is the system set up this way? The main reason is to allow users to select individual prospects for a broadcast, without having to add them to a campaign or a pipeline. Just make sure that you're being careful to review who's selected for your broadcast before sending out messages, that way it doesn't end up going to the wrong people:)

The third thing to keep in mind is that placeholder values are needed for customizing your messages to prospects.

Merge Tags are the pink values that will autofill with the information from the prospect. This means that if a merge tag is for a person's first name - the broadcast will send with each individual prospect's first name instead of one singular name.

Not using these Merge Tags, however, will keep the message from being customized for each prospect. So make sure that - instead of just typing out someone's name - to use the placeholder for that value instead.

Tip #3

By default, messages will send from the person assigned to the prospect.

So, for instance, if you're sending a broadcast to a list of users, each message will send from the person assigned to the user instead of the main number. This is a toggle that you can change, but by default, it always starts as prospect owner. If no-one has been assigned as the prospect owner in Bonzo, the prospect owner will default to the Team Lead on your account.

Best Practices

  • All communication in Bonzo is geared towards driving a response. So we recommend crafting emails that move the conversation forward, not just share information.

    • *Note, if including a video or downloadable link, ensure recipients have consented to its receipt; doing so will minimize your message being flagged as spam.

  • Use a service like Mailwarm to generate activity in your account to boost your trust score with email providers.

  • If you include links or videos, update them often.

  • Schedule Broadcasts in smaller batches. For emails, sending to 100 or fewer at a given time will increase rates of receipt. If sending multiple batches, we recommend spacing out broadcasts. A duration of five minutes is generally sufficient.

  • Sending through Bonzo's email server will protect your Integrated Email from going to Spam, Promotions, being locked down, etc. It will also allow you to send larger blasts of emails at one time through the Bonzo marketing server.

    • Note that most email carriers have limitations for how much email traffic they allow per day as "typical" traffic. Here are a few articles from Google and Microsoft's Support teams that highlight the breakdown of these limitations:

To wrap this all up - being able to broadcast to your prospect base is something that's incredibly beneficial. Through this article, we've taken some time to show you some of the best tips and tricks on executing broadcasts, and hope this will help set you up for success going forward.
