Campaigns: Day based vs. Date Based

Distinguishing between Day-based and Date-based campaigns is key for tailoring campaign length and message frequency to your business needs.

Updated over a week ago

When engaging your audience through campaigns, it's essential to distinguish between Day-based and Date-based campaigns. Understanding this difference helps establish the right campaign length and event message frequency tailored to your business requirements.

Establishing Your Day-Based Campaign:

Day-based campaigns are designed to trigger event messages based on the day a contact is added to the campaign, making them evergreen campaigns that you can use continuously with updates as needed.

  1. From your dashboard, navigate to Campaigns, click on the pink "Create Campaign" button in the top right, name your campaign and click on "Day-based."

  2. Once the type is selected, you can create a new campaign from scratch, copy an existing one, generate a campaign with our AI companion Spark, or import a template.

  3. You'll then want to establish or edit the length of the campaign and the cadence. To edit the order of sending days, simply click on the day and edit the number field in the top left.

  4. Additionally, utilize campaign event delays to stagger your messages and create a more natural communication flow. Delays introduce breaks between messages, avoiding message overload. Note, delays are relative to the timing of the preceding event, not the start of the campaign day.

  5. In conclusion, day-based campaigns offer a dynamic way to engage contacts based on their entry day, allowing for personalized and timely messaging. With careful planning and customization, you can create effective campaigns that drive engagement and conversions

Establishing Your Date-Based Campaign:

Creating a Date-based campaign involves setting up messages to be sent based on specific dates and times, ensuring that contacts receive timely and relevant content. This can be helpful if you're attempting to create a awareness for an "Open House" or a "Holiday Party."

  1. From your dashboard, navigate to Campaigns, click on the pink "Create Campaign" button in the top right, name your campaign and click on "Date-based."

  2. After selecting the type, you can create a new campaign from scratch, copy an existing one, or generate a campaign with our AI companion Spark. Bonzo templates will not be available as Date-based campaigns require a use-case tied to specific calendar dates.

  3. In the campaign edit view, there are two categories: "Immediate" and "Dates." "Immediate" event messages are sent instantly when a contact enters the campaign, providing a quick introduction before any scheduled or dated event messages. With "Dates," you can specify the cadence and type of event messages.

  4. To set the timing for a message in a Date-based campaign, click on the event message, then select "Send at day" to choose the date and time.

By leveraging this feature, you can craft impactful campaigns that drive engagement towards a specific event.
