How to record a partial payment
Follow this simple guide to record a partial payment on your invoices using the Bookipi Invoice mobile app.
Step 1: Select an invoice.
Tap on the invoice you want to mark as partially paid.
Step 2: Tap ‘Payment’.
From the options below the invoice, select ‘Payment’.
Step 3: Select ‘Record Payment’.
Tap on ‘Record Payment’ to begin entering payment details.
Step 4: Turn off the 'Fully paid' option.
Leave the 'Fully paid' option turned off.
Step 5: Enter the amount paid.
Enter the partially paid amount in the provided field.
Step 6: Enter Payment Method
Select the ‘Payment Method’. You may also add a note if needed.
Step 7: Enter the payment date.
To change the payment date, tap on the 'Date' field, choose a new one, and then tap 'Confirm'.
Step 8: Tap ‘Submit’.
Tap ‘Submit’ to record the partial payment on your invoice.
Step 9: (Optional) Send the receipt to your customer.
You’ll be prompted to send a receipt. Enter your customer’s email address and tap ‘Send’ to deliver the receipt.
Your partial payment has been successfully added.
Once you are ready to enter the final payment and complete the transaction, simply enable the ‘Fully paid’ option.

Q: Can I record a partial payment for any document type in Bookipi?
A: No. The ability to record payments, including partial payments, is only available in the Invoice category. This feature is not supported in other categories, such as Estimate or Credit note.
Q: What happens if I leave the ‘Fully Paid’ toggle on?
A: If you leave ‘Fully Paid’ turned on, the full invoice amount will be marked as paid, even if you enter a smaller amount. To accurately record a partial payment, you must toggle ‘Fully Paid’ off.

A: Yes. Once a payment is recorded, you can open the payment history on the invoice and delete the entry as needed.
Q: Will the invoice update automatically after recording a partial payment?
A: Yes. After submitting a partial payment, the invoice balance will automatically update to reflect the remaining amount due. The invoice status will also be updated to 'Partially Paid' accordingly.
Q: Can I record multiple partial payments on the same invoice?
A: Absolutely. You can record multiple payments on the same invoice until the total amount is fully paid.
