Early bird tickets are a great way to reward customers who purchase tickets in advance. You can restrict the ticket to close at a specific period set by you before the event starts, leaving a 'standard' ticket remaining for purchase at a higher price.

How to create an early bird ticket
You can create an early bird ticket within the Tickets & Costs tab of an entry.
To do this, follow the steps outlined below:
Complete the ticket fields as usual; you may wish to indicate that the ticket is an early bird offer in the Ticket name or Ticket details sections:
Enter your discounted cost under the Ticket cost. This is the amount you expect to receive for the ticket with the discount applied (but does not account for any fees incurred through your online payment provider)
Use the Restrict when this ticket is available field to specify when it will be available for purchase and when it will close (no longer be available).
The period can be defined relative to the event's start (in days) or on a fixed date (you may specify the exact time and date).
For example, if your event is in six months and you would like your customers to pay less if they book before the last two months before the event date, you would create two tickets:
The first: | A 'standard ticket' is at the full price with no time restriction. |
The second: | An early bird ticket at a discounted rate that closes 60 days before the event start date (~2 months). |

Restricting the number of available tickets
It can also be a good idea to restrict how many early bird tickets you want to sell. For example, if your event has a capacity of 50, you may offer only 20 early-bird tickets to ensure that you don't sell out your entire event with discounted tickets only.
To do this, add a number in the Number of tickets available field:
This means that although the Maximum event size is 50, only 20 of this particular ticket type will be available for purchase.
