✨ Please note: Online payments are available on the Lite plan or above.

This article covers:

Ensure your PayPal account meets the requirements if you've chosen it to process your credit or debit card payments through Bookwhen.

If you do not do this, your PayPal account will show as unverified in your payment settings, and you may experience issues accepting payments:

Business account

First, you should ensure that your PayPal account is a 'Business' account (instead of 'Personal').

To do this, open your profile settings:

Then scroll down to Account type:

If your account is not a Business account, select the Settings cog ⚙️ at the top, then Account settings and Upgrade to a business account.

Verify your Paypal account

PayPal must confirm that you own the financial details linked to your account.

  • To do this, they typically make a small payment, deposit a small amount, and then ask you to provide information from this transaction.

Verifying your financial details

You must add and confirm at least one bank account or credit/debit card to have a verified PayPal account.

First, navigate to the 'Wallet' section of your Paypal account:

Adding a bank account

Select Add a new bank account and enter your sort code and account number before selecting Agree and Add.

PayPal will make a small deposit in your bank account and include a four-digit code next to the transaction on your bank statement.

Access your statement and find this code, then enter it on the subsequent screen before selecting Confirm:

Adding a credit/debit card

Select Add a new card, and enter your card details before selecting Add card.

Paypal will withdraw a small amount (less than £1) to confirm your card and then refund it within 24 hours.

Select Confirm card, Confirm card again, and select Get code to consent to the temporary charge.

The charge usually appears in 3-4 days. Once it does, find the four-digit code next to the charge on your card statement, return to your Paypal wallet, select confirm card again and follow the steps to enter the code and complete verification.
