What is Kanban?

Kanban is a Japanese term that roughly translates to Signboards or Billboards and is an implementation of Lean methodology which at its core uses the idea of visualising workflows, limiting work in progress, and maximising ‘flow’ or efficiency.

It utilises the ‘pull’ approach and relies on segmenting workflows and tracking progress as it moves across stages from inception to completion.

A typical Kanban board, in its most primitive form breaks workflows into three columns – ‘To Do’, ‘Doing’, and ‘Done’. This way managers and business owners are kept aware of the status of tasks and can crucially help people in organisations to identify bottlenecks and eliminate waste in their processes.

Boombirds and Kanban

Boombirds has adopted this methodology and it all begins, with the Kanban-inspired multi-dimensional Service Board.

In summary,

Monitor tasks that have been assigned to you in the ‘My Activity’ tab

Keep track of activities assigned to the teams you belong to with the ‘Team Activity’ tab

View the status of service requests created for customers managed by you in the ‘Account Activity’ Tab

Each activity under these tabs are placed under the ‘To-do’, ‘Doing’ and ‘Done’ stages to ensure transparency and enable better operational efficiency. This way managers can keep track of the status of each task and drive them to completion.
