Overview

In order to help drive people to your website from outside sources-- such as blogs, vanity websites, or social media-- and track where the leads are coming to the site from, you can create Tracking Links within your BoomTown account. Tracking links help you learn which campaigns are successful!

How to Create a Tracking Link

To create a Tracking Link, navigate to the Tools tab of your left-hand menu and click on the Link Generator tab.

A Tracking Link comprises five parts -- the Destination Page, Source, Campaign, Max Property Views and Max Photo Views.

Destination Page

The Destination page will determine what page of your BoomTown site visitors clicking the link land on.

For example, if you have a website that focuses on Single-Family Homes in Charleston, SC, you might want to perform a search on the site for listings matching these criteria.

Once you've obtained the listing results you want to showcase with this Tracking Link, copy the results URL in the top address bar of your browser, and paste the URL into the link generator where it says Destination Page.

Link Source

The Source is what will display for the lead in their profile page, as well as in the Traffic Dashboard, so you'll want to select a Source from the drop-down --next to Select the Source-- that fits where you're placing the Tracking Link.

Click on the down arrow to select the appropriate Source from the list of options.

Note: Some Agents choose to use a source they do not plan to use in the future so that the leads brought in by this campaign are searchable using Advanced Lead Filters.

Link Campaign

The Campaign will provide you with more details about the lead's origin when you hover over the Source within BoomTown. You’ll want name the Campaign as specifically as you can.

For instance, when posting a link on Facebook about Single-Family homes in Charleston, SC, you would likely want to name this Campaign something like Single-Family Homes CHS.

This will let you know that your lead came in from Facebook (the Source), but also from the specific posting on Single-Family homes in the Charleston area (the Campaign).

Set Squeeze Parameters

If you'd like your tracking link to have specialized criteria in place for when a lead will be prompted to register on your website when accessing it through the specific link, you can enter a custom number in the Set Max Property Views and Set Max Photo Views areas of the page. The default for each will be 2 views, but you can customize either of them to any number between 0 and 99.

Set Max Property Views

This section will allow you to customize the total number of property full details pages a lead is able to access on your website through the tracking link, before the registration prompt is fired.

To customize this, simply enter your preferred number in the field.

Set Max Photo Views

This section will allow you to customize the total number of a particular property's photos a lead is able to access on your website through the tracking link, before the registration prompt is fired.

To customize this, simply enter your preferred number in the field.

Generate Link

Last, select the Generate Link button to view the Tracking Link, so that you can copy the information and paste it for sharing on your outside website, blog or social media platform!

You don’t have to display the whole link, rather you can hyperlink text that would read something like Click here, but link it to your Tracking Link.
