Over the last year, our team has been working on a complete revamp of our General Chemistry video series. As of May 2nd, we’ve released the new Chapters 1-4 to the public.
Here’s what changed:
New instructor
New videos added to improve clarity
Reorganized topic order for better flow
New illustrations and animations
Improved explanations and analogies
Emphasize new concepts being frequently tested on the exam recently
Important notes for Chapters 1-4:
The custom study schedule has updated to reflect the new video structure.
The study note titles have been updated to match the new video organization, but the actual study note content will be updated in the next two weeks.
Some question banks may currently appear in a different chapter than expected. The questions have not been removed, but they may not perfectly align with the new chapter organization yet. It may take us up to two weeks to align these changes.
FAQ:
Question: If I already watched the videos from Chapters 1–4, do I have to go back and rewatch them?
Answer: Rewatching is optional. The core General Chemistry concepts remain the same, but the updated videos include a new instructor, improved explanations, better visuals/animations, reorganized topics, and some additional emphasis on concepts that have become more frequently tested. If you already feel comfortable with Chapters 1–4, you do not need to rewatch everything. However, if you struggled with any of these topics or want a clearer explanation, we recommend reviewing the updated videos.
Question: My exam is coming up. Should I go back and watch the new videos?
Answer: If your exam is coming up soon and you have limited time, we do not recommend rewatching the updated videos. The older videos still cover the content tested on the exam. However, if there are specific topics you found confusing or want clearer explanations for, we recommend watching the updated videos for those topics.
Question: Why am I only seeing post-video quizzes for specific videos, such as General Chemistry 1.5 and 1.7?
Answer: Post-video quizzes are currently only available for select new Gen Chem videos, so you may only see them for certain lessons such as 1.5 and 1.7. We’ll continue adding more over time as the new videos are rolled out.
Question: When will the remaining chapters be released?
Answer: The remaining chapters will be released sometime this summer. Unlike Chapters 1 to 4, the remaining chapters are not expected to include significant changes to the content or topic order. These updates will primarily feature the new instructor teaching the same core material. We’ll roll them out carefully to avoid disrupting your studying.
Question: Are the older videos still sufficient?
Answer: Yes. The older videos still cover the General Chemistry content tested on the exam. The updated videos were created to improve the learning experience with clearer explanations.
Question: How can I access the old chapter 1-4 videos?
