There are 6 sections on the American DAT and 4 sections on the Canadian DAT. In each section, you have a limited amount of time to answer a specific number of questions. Your DAT scores are based on the number of correct responses; therefore, examinees are NOT penalized for guessing.

DAT results are reported in terms of scale scores. The scale scores are neither raw scores (number correct) nor percentiles. Using scale scores it is possible to more readily compare the performance of one examinee with the performance of all examinees. Scores used in the testing program range from 1 to 30. There are no passing or failing scores; a scale score of 18 typically signifies average performance on a national basis.

Note: You want to ideally aim for 20+ in every section. The higher your score is, the better.
