Check these specifications before joining a Boostlingo video session to avoid audio or video issues.
Desktop / laptop hardware
Processor, Intel: 2.0 GHz or faster second-generation Core i3, i5, or i7 (or newer), or a quad-core processor or newer.
Processor, AMD: 1.8 GHz or faster AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor.
Memory: 2 GB RAM or more.
Video: a discrete video card, or integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 or better (found on second-generation Sandy Bridge or newer Core i3, i5, i7 processors).
Webcam: any external HD 720p or better webcam.
Audio: speakers, headset, and microphone.
Important Note: Faster processors provide higher video frame rates. Multi-core processors slower than 2.0 GHz will work, but they aren't guaranteed to provide the best video quality. Video pixelation and freezing may occur on systems that don't meet these processor requirements.
Mobile hardware and software
Apple: iOS / iPadOS 17.0 or later.
Android: version 7.1 or later.
Note: Video on older mobile devices may not be suitable for VRI, especially for Sign Language/ASL interpreting. For ASL interpreting, use a recent-generation Android tablet or iPad running the newest version of its operating system. For more on getting ready for a video session, see the VRI Preparation Guide article.
Desktop software and browsers
Windows: 10 or later.
Mac: OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) or higher.
Browsers:
Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Edge are all supported browsers.
All other browsers are considered unsupported, and the web app may not work as expected.
Important Note: Mobile browsers are not supported for interpretation services. Use the applications available on the Google Play and Apple App stores instead.
Network requirements
Ideal bandwidth: 25+ Mbps upstream and 3+ Mbps downstream.
Recommended bandwidth: 5+ Mbps upstream and 3+ Mbps downstream.
Minimum bandwidth: 2 Mbps upstream and downstream.
Note: 4G LTE connections and mobile hotspots are sufficient for most situations with an adequate connection to your LTE service provider. LTE quality is heavily influenced by your location and by how many users share your cell tower, so interpreters should always rely on wired internet service over LTE for consistent network quality. 3G connections and mobile hotspots are not recommended, but may be sufficient for two-party audio-only calls.
