Zoom for OPI integration lets an interpreter join an ongoing Zoom session — from your LSC’s internal interpreter teams or the Boostlingo Professional Interpreter Network. This article gives an overview and suggestions for a smooth experience.
Clients can add on-demand interpreters speaking 250-plus languages to a Zoom meeting, and can add multiple interpreters if needed. Connecting is secure and takes just seconds.
Note: Zoom for OPI requires Zoom Pro, Business, or Enterprise (not Zoom Basic). The feature is enabled per account by the LSC admin, and only a specific list of languages set by the LSC admin can be used — contact your LSC admin to request more. Scheduled OPI calls aren’t yet supported. Zoom for VRI is also available — ask your Account Manager.
Suggestions
Disable the Waiting Room. After connecting, make sure the Waiting Room is off so it doesn’t block the interpreter.
Add the interpreter first. Consider adding the interpreter before the other party joins.
Avoid cross-talk. Pause to leave a clear break when speaking or listening to the interpreter.
Conducting a test? Once connected, mention it’s a test and end within the first 30 seconds.
