Bulk User Import in Boostlingo

Fill out a Boostlingo import template to add interpreters or client profiles in bulk, check your file against a few key fields, and send it to us to load.

Adding a lot of users one at a time is slow. If you need to set up many interpreters or client profiles at once, fill out a Boostlingo import template, check it against the fields below, and send it back to us for import.

Choose the right template

There are two templates, one for each kind of profile. Use one row for each person you want to add. The templates are attached at the bottom of this article.

  • Interpreter Import template: for interpreter and interpreter-admin profiles.

  • Client Import template: for client (requestor) profiles, including the admins who manage your account.

If you're not sure which template fits your request, ask your account manager before you start.

Fill out your template

Each template has two tabs. The first tab, "Instructions with Examples," is locked and shows what every field means, which values are allowed, and some examples. Enter your own data on the second tab.

You don't have to fill in every column for every import. Required fields are marked on the template, and the notes below cover the ones worth double-checking before you send the file.

Check your file before you send it

A few small errors in a file can hold up an import, so it's worth a quick pass before you send it. The email field matters most, so start there.

Check these in both templates

  • Email (USER_Email): Required, and the single most important field. Every profile needs a valid email address in the correct format, and each email can appear on only one profile. The same email can show up on more than one row only if those rows belong to different accounts. If you see the same email twice under the same account, fix it or flag it to us before sending.

  • First and last name (USER_FirstName, USER_LastName): Highly recommended so profiles are easy to identify. Keep each to 35 characters or fewer.

  • Service type (USER_DefaultServiceType): If you enter one, it has to match a value from the Service Type list on the Instructions tab exactly.

Client Import template: also check

  • Account name (ACCOUNT_Name): Required on every row, 50 characters or fewer. If you're creating a new account, the name has to be unique. If you're adding profiles to an account that already exists in Boostlingo, type the name exactly as it appears in the platform, word for word, so the profiles land in the right place.

  • Account service type (ACCOUNT_DefaultServiceType): Strongly recommended for new accounts. Choose a value from the Service Type list on the Instructions tab. If you leave it blank, it will default to Business.

  • Account native language (ACCOUNT_NativeLanguage): This is English in almost every case. If you need a different language, confirm it with your account manager first.

  • Role (USER_Role): If you set a role, use one of these exact values: Requestor Root Admin, Requestor Admin, or Requestor. Most profiles are regular Requestors. Every account needs at least one Root Admin, and the first profile listed for a new account is assigned Root Admin automatically.

Interpreter Import template: also check

  • Role (USER_Role): Required. Enter Interpreter for a standard interpreter profile, or LSC Admin for an admin profile. Type the value exactly as shown.

  • Gender (USER_Gender): Required. Enter Male, Female, or Other.

  • Yes/No fields (USER_ASL, USER_HIPAA, USER_NAATI, USER_NZSTI): Enter Yes or No. Any blanks default to No.

  • Address fields: Highly recommended. Boostlingo uses an interpreter's address to match them to on-site appointments within a set radius and to calculate mileage.

A quick way to scan a column for typos or odd values is to turn on filters in the spreadsheet (highlight your data, then Sort & Filter, then Filter) and open the dropdown on each column heading.

Send us your completed template

When your import file is ready, send it to the support team for processing. We aim to complete imports within one week of receiving a finished file. If your request is time-sensitive, let us know and we'll do our best to prioritize it.
